AFTER A MORNING OF GREAT READING, EYES ARE BUGGY EVEN...

I WANT YOUR OPINION CRUSHERS PLEASE (THEN I'LL TELL YOU WHAT I READ AND MY OPINION ABOUT IT) UNLESS YOU ARE ALL BUSY? LOL

OF COURSE, ASSUMING THERE IS AN OBJECT TO POKER.......

DO YOU THINK THE "OBJECT" OF POKER IS TO WIN THE POT?

WHY OR WHY NOT?
AWARDING PC POINTS FOR THIS ONE,

ESPECIALLY IF YOU CAN CONVINCE US THAT YOUR OPINION IS THE RIGHT ONE, IF THERE IS SUCH A THING, LOL

Depends - cash/ring table => YES!
Tournamant or Sit'n Go's - not necessarily => elimination of players

if a small stacked player goes all-in, several largers stacked players may call to eliminate the player. there are times when i have seen the mistake of going for the pot over eliminating the player when the all-in players bluff or raise without the nut hand. if you dont have the nuts, don't raise..just check through...the more players you have in the hand the better the chances of eliminating the player that is all-in. this is the situation, in my opinion, where it should not be the objective to go for the pot.

YEPPERS, KID, THAT IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE MAIN POINT, WHICH IS THIS-

THE OBJECT IN POKER IS NOT TO WIN THE POT!
BUT, TO WIN THE POTS THAT FAVOR YOUR ODDS IN THE ABILITY TO ACTUALLY TAKE THE POT!!

THE POT IS TOO VAGUE AND LEADS MOST TO BELIEVE THAT POT IS THE POT OR ALL POTS... <--MAKE SENSE?? LOL

WHICH IS GREAT BECAUSE PLAYERS THAT DO THINK THE OBJECT IS TO WIN THE POT, WIN EVERY POT, WIN ALL THE POTS, MAKE THE REST OF US A GOOD AMOUNT OF MONEY IN THE END.

AND, AS AN EXPERIENCED PLAYER KNOWS, THE OBJECT IS TO WIN THE POTS THAT FAVOR YOUR TAKING THEM.

IT IS WHAT YOU WANT TO DO, WHEN ALL THE FACTORS MAKE IT, THEE POT TO WIN, IN THAT DAY, WITH THOSE CARDS, ON & ON GO THE VARIABLES OF COURSE!!

IS THE TABLE PLAYING LOOSE? WELL BLUFFS ARE HARD TO ACHIEVE THEN. IS THE TABLE PLAYING TIGHT? WELL THE NUTS ARE LEAST LIKELY TO ACTUALLY WIN MUCH THEN. ARE YOU IN A BAD MOOD? ETC....

ARE YOU PLAYING ALL PROS? ALL FISH? ETC. ETC.

BUT, WTG KID!!!!! WOOOHOOO!! 3000 PC POINTS FOR ANSWERING, AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO READ THIS WITH ME. GUESS NOBODY ELSE REALLY WAS TOO INTERESTED IN THIS TOPIC, WHICH I CERTAINLY AM!!!

too late to comment now but i agree that winning the pot is not always the priority, in tournaments the priority is to stay in till end and win some good pots to get your chips up but trying to win every pot will give you a very early exit unless of course you are dealt one hell of a lot of good hands and have some luck on your side
