WSOP 2007 NEWS FROM PokerGuru
Good glorious morning, my star fledgelings!
There are 55 events in this year's WSOP, and the final Main Event will not be until the middle of July.
But the WSOP has begun and Monday, June 4, yesterday as I am writing this, had two events running at the same time.
The main question among the pros I kept hearing over and over again until I decided to take a break from it all and come home for awhile was, "How many events are you going to play in this year?" Or "Which events are you playing in this year?"
I don't believe I have ever had my shoulders bumped into or the toes of my high-polished shoes stepped on so much ever as happened yesterday, which seemed a week long. I don't know for a fact if it is, but it sure seemed like the widest field (the most players) ever for the beginning week of the WSOP.
The most playing came for me personally in the weeks just before the official Week #1 started. (The time I have been absent from Poker-Crush, which I think I am beginning to prefer more and more, along with some casual poker playing, over the stress and the hassles of championship tournaments. Even the crowds of so many strangers and so few players I know at the WSOP.
Now don't get me wrong or let me discourage you from going for it. By all means you should. And from the first year you play at the WSOP until you have played in that event for several years, win or lose, it will be the most exciting years of your life.
Maybe I have just been a part of it too long, or maybe I'm just tired to the point of exhaustion on this first day back home until July. Or maybe I have have just exchanged my first loves. I have recently, as you know, become mighty darn devoted to my work here at Poker-Crush, and I find myself wondering if maybe our site here has not become my #1 love.
I sure am comfortable with all my sweetheart members, my fledgelings, the guys and gals now as familiar as real family, and also with Geno, OrangeCrush, and RoyalCrush (aka our own royalblush). I am not an antisocial guy, but the swarming crowds I have been dealing with while I've been gone sure made me yearn to be back here with you. The bigger the crowd of people I KNOW, the better. Then I am happy. But lately, if the big crowd is mostly strangers and officials with lists of rules that go on forever, it seems to be less and less my style.
By comparison, it makes the pro tournaments seem like hard wooden benches and my place here at Poker-Crush seem like my soft and comfy easy chair. I know that is a strange comparison, but I think you will know exactly what I mean. By the way, your knowing what I mean is another best feature of our close and fuzzy life here at Poker-Crush.
So even tho I am still right in there with this year's WSOP and do stand a small chance at the championship, I hope you can see, sweethearts of my heart, that thoughts of retiring from the most crowded poker events are crossing my mind a few times lately.
In any case, it is great to be back! I look forward with enthusiasm to July being behind me and not having to take such absences from you again for at least another year, Lord willing and the rivers don't rise!
I will be back here at my keyboard either later this evening or tomorrow at least.
I have glanced through our forum just enough to see that my always-great members have kept it running just fine and moving right along. I am not one bit surprised because I know you so well, but still I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
See you very shortly, after some unpacking and a bit of rest.
Until then, I remain, as always,
Your ever-lovin' Guru |

My dear friends and loyal followers,
Thank you once again for your warm and gentle-hearted ways. Your posts, as always, touched my homesick heart.
Char1984: So glad to hear you still welcome my lessons. I thought you might have found another "Guru" and knew it all by now! LOL! Just stay away from the self-appointed "gurus", please. Their interest is their own ego and not what is best for you, even if they took the time to learn what that is! Of course, I highly suspect you already know that and that I am "preaching to the choir". Thank you for your post, Char!
Mojojds: My very special one! Yres, indeed, welcome back youuuuuuuu!!! And woo hoo.....it is, for sure, time for that precious poker face of yours to be put back on! I can see I am going to have to hound Geno to take the time to make it our official logo. Where IS your avatar, anyway? You MUST bring it back!
Beckie33: Our gracious one! You so quietly and studiously take my lessons to heart. Then you go out and kick some butt! I half expected to bump into you at any time where I was playing. I hope you still know how heavily you are loaded with all that it takes! Now it is time to start re-stocking you with more ammunition. There is much butt just waiting to be kicked by someone just like you out there!
Bower50: I did find a way, every time I could, my friend, to follow your progress toward the WSOP! I am still so excited for what I know lies ahead for you! Even tho my heart was broken when finally, some much-to-be-respected somebody finally stopped your progress. But only for THIS year, Bower! I, myself, had a half dozen such defeats before I finally made it to the WSOP for the first time. From then on, it is a breeze, because you will have so many backers! To say nothing of self confidence.
Kaska321: I am delighted that you are now taking in my lessons enough to miss them! With both of us working to make you a winner, you will soonsurprise yourself to find it isn't as hard as you think it is, if you follow the right path. Nobody can get anywhere without the right path under their feet! Thank you for your sweet smiles. And even more for studying!
Spookth: Our sophisticated friend, who will one day be beating me often at our much loved game of poker! What a wonderful encouragement to me you are! Your welcoming words and wishes mean so much to me. You are acquiring and HAVE acquired a great deal of poker knowledge, my friend! And by the way, if I should actually maintain my thought processes well enough to really win it this year, I will not be "taking" it home. I will be "bringing" it home, back here, right here, to my Poker Crushers who are earning it with each minute they spend thinking about my words! Remember, I did not have a poker Guru, and that is why I carry so many scars of wounds that I have vowed to never let my Crushers suffer.
And to the new members we have gained in my absence: a most sincere welcome to our very special group of poker scholars! I hope so much that you, also, will be calling it that in a very short time!
I notice our ALW was away for a while. Alen, I am so sorry it was not under the most pleasant circumstances, but I pledge to help you put yourself on top of the world.....and not to take forever to do it! Not that you wouldn't find your way there without me!
Rainbow 1, I see, is self-maintaining, to regularly help keep us all in a balanced state of mind, which is so necessary for champions in any field. Thank you, Rainbow.
Where is our NotLOL? I see no sign of her and that makes me very sad. I miss her.
And I can hardly wait for Valeria to discover I am back to torment her and prod her and try to get her to use her reins when she gets excited while playing! LOL!
I am getting very sleepy, but I wish I could take time to go on until I had spoken to each one of my Poker Crushers, because I think equally well of you all, each with your own individual playing personalities and styles.
You are "my people" and I know I will have to work hard to get us all caught up with everything in my plans and also my backlogs. But no one is more eager to do that work than I am.
Good night for now, my stars of tomorrow!
Your ever-lovin' PokerGuru |

That is a most gracious message in the words of your post, Bower.
Thank you very much.
If I were to flip a coin, however, I have a feeling the result would be that I will reach old age with my poker boots still on and my chartered plane standing by.....for those last minute big games somewhere. LOL!
I appreciate so much all of my members' good thoughts for me. They are returned with gusto!
Your Guru |

However brief your stay is,

How happy it makes me to hear you say so, ALW!
Except for a week or so in July at the WSOP end tables, I expect to be here regularly, since it will be the end of the most hectic part of the pro season.
And I sure will be glad to be able to stay put most of the time....especially right here at our PokerCrush!
Thanks again, my friend!
