There are several pointer breeds. One is the English pointer.
They are very athletic being a hunting dog.The male is slightly bigger than the female. They are affectionate,even-tempered and loyal. As a house pet they love to lay around on big soft sofas lol. |

A pointer is hard-driving hunting dog possessing stamina, courage, and the desire to go. And in his expression are the loyalty and devotion of a true friend of man. A pointer has a short coat of Liver, lemon, black, orange; either in combination with white or solid-colored. A good Pointer cannot be a bad color. In the darker colors, the nose should be black or brown; in the lighter shades it may be lighter or flesh-colored. A sporting dog with a muscular build, standing 23" to 28" tall. |

Pointer Details
Height: 61-69cm (24-27")
Colour: Orange, liver or black with white. Self colours or tri-colours.
Coat: Short & fine
Features: Large sized body. Eyes generally dark. Ears hang to the side of the head. Tail is long.
This breed takes their name Pointer from their ability to freeze, motionless with their head extended and pointing towards the sighted game. They love to work and to hunt so much that they will do so for people other than their owners. They are very stable and affectionate; they fit into family life fine but still need plenty of exercise.

a pointer dog is a dog with the ability to hunt for birds in the rough . It has one master it will respond to . it flushes up a bird from the land . Stops and stands perfectly still with it's nose in the air and it's tail straight out . To let the hunter know there is a bird in the rough . When the hunter gives the command the pointer will flush out the bird . The hunter shoots the bird and then commands the pointer to retrieve that bird . He is a med. built dog with med. length hair whit in color with brown spots . Very intelligent too . His little nose is also brown and very loving . they seem to love the water too . And if you look inside his mouth it should be dark in color . |

A pointing breed is a type of gundog typically used in finding game. Gundogs are traditionally divided into three classes: retrievers, flushing spaniels, and pointing breeds. The name pointer comes from the dog's instinct to point, by stopping and aiming its muzzle towards game. This demonstrates to the hunter the location of his or her quarry and allows him to move into gun range. Pointers were selectively bred for dogs who had abundant pointing and backing instinct. They typically start to acquire their hunting instincts at about 2 months of age. Many need further training to hold steadily at all appropriate times until released by the hunter.
The pointing breeds can be dated to England and Europe in about the 1650s.[citation needed] They may have descended from dogs from Spain. (Furgus, 2002) Pointing dogs were originally used by hunters who netted the game. The dog would freeze or set (as in Setter) and allow the hunter to throw the net over the game before it flushed. Flushing dogs, on the other hand, were often used by falconers to flush game for the raptors.
Pointing breeds come in all varieties of coats, from short-haired dogs, to wire-haired dogs, to silky-coated Setters. |

One thing is for sure, my PCers. It is something I have always suspected: Poker players seem to all love dogs!!! And that makes me very happy!
In fact, I have always had a secret desire to have a website called "LOVERS! Of Poker and Dogs!" Whatcha think? LOL!
Some of you were NOT too lazy to do some good research on these lovable dogs. AND......well....um....some of you were! But I never jump to conclusions, because there are as many reasons, I'm sure, as there are members. Nobody knows what any one member has going on in his/her life at any given time! That is why we should NEVER judge one another! There are many, many more important things happening to people all over the world every day......so many that sometimes it makes entering a contest seem trivial in comparison! That is the precise reason I never take for granted any reason why any of you do or do not do something. Life is very complex. We all have our times of great happiness and our times of unbelievable sorrow. And the main thing to remember is....... we hardly ever know which is happening to whom among us.
So I beseech you to never make judgements without absolute evidence. And maybe not even then. That is really Someone Else's job!!!
NOW! Let me ask you a question: How many of you realized I just sneaked a lesson in on you? LMFAO! I love to teach my charges without them knowing they have ever been taught!
I have found it makes learning much more fun and far less weary than having to study boring words in a standard lesson. I have also found, over the years, that lessons taught in some unusual way....especially if they touch emotions......are the ones that are never forgotten! EVEN FOR THOSE WHO NEVER KNOW THEY HAVE BEEN TAUGHT ANYTHING! Always meant to write a thesis about that for some university to publish. But you know how it is. There are sooooo many things we just never seem to get round to. Such is this life.
But there I go again. Okay. 'Nuff said!
The winners of this contest are:
kaska321..........1500 PC points...........................................
msfilly..............1500 PC points...........................................
Bower50...........1500 PC points...........................................
COGRATULATIONS, dog lovers!
And I thank every member who was able to enter! Your win is coming soon!
