Hi My PCers!
I AM ADDING THIS PARAGRAPH AS AN EDIT TO MY OWN POSTED LESSON TO LET YOU KNOW MY LESSON CONTAINS MISTAKES (slapping my own Guru hands!) AND I AM ASKING YOU TO READ THE FOLLOWING POSTS BY BOTH BOWER AND VALERIA UNTIL I CAN CORRECT MY OWN!! So sorry! Still a learning student myself in this area and in fact ALL areas and fields of endeavors!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This lesson is very different, as you can tell by the title. I decided to write and post this one simply because I think there is a need for it.
You know, sometimes when we see what somebody else has done, it looks so impressive that we automatically think we couldn't do it. And, to make matters worse, when it comes to technical matters, some people honestly find it very hard to explain and others, I'm sad to say, don't try very hard to explain and you can decide for yourself what their reasons might be.
So you go forever without knowing how to do something and thinking you never will know! Then when the day comes that you can do it, you think with surprise, "Holy Cow! Has it been that simple all this time?!!" The answer is a resounding YES. I believe our minds sometimes play practical jokes on us....and that is one of them!
Well, I'll let you in on a little secret. I finally figured out how to post a picture from another web page into a forum like ours here and ...... I figured it out myself because I decided nobody was ever going to be able to teach me! LOL! So.....being slow but stubborn like I am, I sat down at my computer and said to myself, "I don't care what else I don't get done; I'm not getting up from here until I have figured this out!"
NOW I'm gonna tell YOU how easy it is after all! If it doesn't work the first time you try, it is probably because the page you are trying to copy the picture from has a hidden code that won't let ANYBODY do it. Which is their right if it is their picture. But there are plenty of web sites that don't care if anybody else likes pictures on their pages or not.
Anyway, let's see now if I can teach you "PokerGuru's Way"!
1. Right click on image.
2. Click on "properties".
3. Highlight the text that starts with http://
4 Click on EDIT at top of page and click COPY.
Now you are thru with that page, so come on back to PC and to put it in your post, do this:
1. Click on EDIT at top of page and click PASTE.
2. Highlight the text that you just pasted in your post.
3. Click the little square with the "mountain" in it (just above post).
4. Click PREVIEW down below your post.
You are finished, so click SUBMIT.
This lesson has been presented to you by YOUR EVER-LOVIN' GURU |

Hi Bower,
Were you, by any chance, trying to post something from your own computer? As far as I know (and that is not far!) you can't.
Also, may I ask you a huge favor for many of us? Will you please post your method for us? Pretty please with an Ace on it??? LOL |

The absolute EASIEST way I have found to post a picture is - open a FREE Photobucket account. You can upload all the pics you want for free into your own little portfolio, you can copy pics into it from anywhere on the web.
Then when you want to make a post with a pic - just click the photo you want to send and it gives you choices of a link, and IMG file etc.. just click the link and copy place it in your post and voila... |

I use Photobucket too.I'll list instructions step by step for people like me who aren't computer savvy.
1 - Open account at photobucket.com
2 - Right click picture you want posted.Click 'save picture as..'
3 - My Pictures opens,click 'save'
4 - Open photobucket and in upload image section click 'choose files'
5 - My pictures opens .Find picture you want and left click it.Click open and it will upload.
6 - Below the picture on photobucket hilite the 'img code' right click it and copy.
7 - When making your post here right click and paste.Picture will show after you submit your post.
Hope this helps some. |

Bower AND Valeria,
Thank you very very much!
I did a bad and forgot to add that I, also, opened a photobucket account, where I find all my images. I guess that is the reason I was able to make it work.
BUT I obviously have left something else out too! (Slapping own Guru hands!)
Valeria, What a GREAT technical wrter, as well as instructor, you are! I have never seen anything explained so simply!
MY HAT IS OFF TO BOTH OF YOU!!!
PCers, please feel free to add your two cents worth, as well! I would love to see ALL PCers posting images!
P.S. The "your own little portfolio" Valeria was talking about is kept at Photobucket, not on your own computer. IS THAT RIGHT, VALERIA? ( I wouldn't dare not ask after committing the "bad" in my own attempt to explain!)
In this case, good luck and happy practicing to all who need to!
Your imperfect (by far) Guru |

Yes as Bower said.. just copy the IMG text (right click on it and copy) below the picture you want and just insert in your post by right clicking and pasting. Now ya have a pic in your post...
(as long as you don't delete the picture in Photobucket - then it is gone out of your post) |
