Hi PCers and particularly those "dressing" for the freeroll at 3D in two days!
I just wanted to take a minute to encourage you to do a quick review of all the main points of the things we have deemed important in our lessons.
It always helps to review material before a test, and if you don't think the 7th's freeroll is a test, just ask those who played in the last one.
Remember in particular not to let your playing be influenced by the size of the pot. Good poker playing will always be the same, no matter the pot!
Also, put every hand you have played behind you, and start all over with each new hand as if it were the beginning.
Let no one intimidate you because you have already discovered you are GOOD!
Remember that not many good players bluff very often, but you will find it hard to win if you don't bluff once in a while. Pick your times carefully!
Study every player at your table and try to find patterns in how they play.
Remember that the number one mistake made by ALL poker players is not folding often enough!
Remember that a hand not played is a hand not lost.
Remember that an Ace is nothing more than high card unless you get something on the board to match it up with. I never bet or call with an Ace unless my other hole card is 5 or above.
Don't overlook the possibility of a straight or a flush.......by you OR by another player.
With 4 of a kind -- bet the farm and your body on it! Toss in your spouse and kids!
With a full house -- bet the farm and HALF your family!
Anything under the last two -- be cautious in your betting and NEVER go all in with it.
Most of all, KEEP YOUR CONFIDENCE HIGH because we all know by now that YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES!
Stay relaxed, after you have prepared well, including stocking your computer area with everything you might need, including plenty non-alcololic drinks! < BEFORE tourney time!
If you have any questions between now and tourney time, be sure to ask me!!!!! I will answer right away ..... up to about 15 minutes before the game.
I'm not at all worried about how you will do!
Your coach and PokerGuru |

I'm just posting on this thread so I can find it easily on the day of the Party Casino Freeroll. It holds very valuable advice that although already absorbed, needs refreshing from time to time. Thanks Guru!! |

Thank you, spookth.
I'm glad you found that lesson to be valuable.
In looking back myself, I think it may have been one of my best lessons.....which proves it is not how long the lesson that matters, but what it contains!
Thanks for reminding me of that as I am ready to post another.....this one about BLUFFING.
Of course you know I will be with you in spirit as you play! I also have all the confidence in the world in you....because you study and you THINK!
Your lucky to have members like you Guru |
