NEXT MONTH -
Early Strategy for NLHE Multi-table tournaments

October Topic:
Multi-Table No-Limit Tournaments
The popularity of no-limit hold'em tournaments is booming. Fueled by the
televised WSOP(World Series of Poker) and World Poker Tour,
many people are intrigued and enter for a chance to win a 'big score.'
Nowadays, most no-limit hold'em is played in poker tournament form.
No-limit hold'em tournaments have crazy variance, much moreso than
no-limit ring games. Thats because all the money gets shoved in preflop,
on near coin-flip odds by the end of the tournament.
For example, AK versus a pocket pair is an extremely common battle,
and especially late in a no-limit tournament.
I'm not saying you shouldn't play no-limit tournaments..........
but please don't think that these type of tournaments are all skill and no luck.
The famous quote from the movie Rounders, "The same five guys make it to
the final table every year at the WSOP," is the opposite of the truth.
You must be lucky to win a no-limit tournament because
you must win more than your fair share of coin-flip battles.
_________
PLEASE POST YOUR THOUGHTS-
Everyone posting will be entered in a random draw.
1st name drawn for $20 and 2nd drawn for $10.
Cash Terms and *Payout Rules*
*You must have at least $30 worth of accumulated prizes to get paid*
You need the same exchange value of pc points as the cash prize:
1,000 pc points for $10 cash- 2,000 pc points for $20 cash- Etc.
If you do not have enough points to win a cash prize yet, you'll be credited with the
same value of points instead -so next time you'll be able to cash out.
You will need to advise us how you would like to be paid. To do this, please go to the red
section above and click "My Payment Method" then follow instructions
for your choice. You only need to do this once (unless you later wish/need to change your
payment method). If you have any questions p.m. PC Staff or CrushAdmin
Note:
Email should match on both accounts and may show as Pending for up to 30 days.
Good Luck. Happy Gaming Always!

I never seem to get good hold-cards in no-limit games... so I tend to stick to the ring games or the no-limit lower pay( free) tourneys. |

I agree with you Bower. You can't always play according to the "rules" in no-limit tournies. It is different than sitting at a 10 seat table just to play no-limit.
Every poker game is different. Depends on who else is playing too and how they play |

Yep I do not have the luck nor am I skilled to enter a tournament with no limits, free tournaments is what I do, Lucky if I get to stay for more then 30 minutes lol. It is skill IMO, you have to be really good at Texas Hold em, with a little luck on the side to play in a no limits tournie. At least that is what I think. |

No-limit hold'em tournaments have crazy variance, more than no-limit ring games. This is because all the money gets shoved in preflop on near coin-flip odds at the end of the tournament. For example, AK versus a pocket pair is a very, very common battle late in a no-limit tournament. This pretty much sums it up. During this type of tourney I constantly remind myself of one thing. Just survive! Survival is the key. |

well I have found out I hate the No-limit freerolls that go on at many sites. Almost always there is 1 or 2 people that always raise all-in before the flop. And quite often take the pot even if they have horrible card cause they scare everyone out. I tend to call these bets in a freeroll setting when I have face cards or suited straigh cards. This way it does come down to luck of the draw. Who gets the cards they need.
Gotta have some balls so to speak when playing these tourneies and take your chances if you have good cards. |

I agree with you completely!! Poker is at least half luck! Sometimes I have it, and sometimes I don't...sometimes it seems like no matter what I play wins and sometimes it seems like no matter I play it loses. |

I think I'd lose right away if there were no limit. |

What cards you have in your hand is important to the degree of if you fold or stay in but the pair of aces in you hand don't mean crepe if the guy holding a pair of twos catches another 2. |

I only play at intertops and the ones i play in are un-limit betting. I'm with sable on the fact that alot of players try and bluff by betting big.I found this out by accident ...i was tired of playing and stayed in with a low pair most time i would fold my pair but wanted out and i won. so i started staying in instead of folding and won 2nd place. now am back to thinking everyone bluffs...lmaoooo. i'll never understand it. I don't know what most of the poker they play , all i know is what R & A tournaments means . all the rest am clueless |
