Post to enter (about poker of course) time again Crushers
Always prepared for you by BowerCrush

November Topic:
EARLY STRATEGY IN MULTI-TABLE NLHE TOURNAMENT
In terms of strategy, no-limit tournaments are very different from no-limit ring games. You simply can't bluff as much because people's stacks tend to be smaller in relation to the size of the pot. Also, since the amount of chips you win from a bluff is worth less than the amount you stand to lose, bluffing loses a lot of 'value.'
Now, many of you may be confused. Suppose you bluff 1,000 chips at a 1,000 pot and figure you have a 50-60% chance of taking it down. Many of you would think it's worth it to take that risk. However, those 1,000 chips you win are worth less than those 1,000 chips you stand to lose. If you have a 2,000 stack, getting knocked down to 1,000 has much more negative value than the positive value of getting up to 3,000. The 1,000 chips do not represent money.
The only monetary value in the tournament is either losing all of your chips or winning them all (and losing them all is more important because you do get a prize if you lose them all in the late stages of the tournament). Losing those 1,000 chips knocks you half the way out, but winning those 1,000 doesn't do squat for winning.
This is not to imply that you can simply fold your way into the money. The blinds will eat you alive. You must win pots so you don't get knocked out most of the time. Towards the end of the tournament, you can think of winning pots to win the whole tournament. However, most of the time you must win pots simply so you don't lose!
Thus, in the early stages of the tournament, you should avoid gambling much. Generally, the amount you win isn't worth the gamble. If you can see the flop for cheap with a suited connector or someone goes all-in preflop and you have A A, by all means go for it. However, I wouldn't suggest bluffing all-in. In the early stages, you want to win a huge pot here and there because you hold the nuts. Target a bad player and make him pay you off.
_________
Please post your views on this and everyone will be entered in a draw for a $20 and $10 prize.
Cash Terms and *Payout Rules*
*You must have at least $30 worth of accumulated prizes to get paid*
You need the same exchange value of pc points as the cash prize:
1,000 pc points for $10 cash- 2,000 pc points for $20 cash- Etc.
If you do not have enough points to win a cash prize yet, you'll be credited with the
same value of points instead -so next time you'll be able to cash out.
You will need to advise us how you would like to be paid. To do this, please go to the red
section above and click "My Payment Method" then follow instructions for your choice.
You only need to do this once (unless you later need to change your payment method).
Note: Email should match on both accounts and may show Pending for 30 days.
If you have any questions p.m. PC Staff or CrushAdmin
Good Luck. Happy Gaming Always!

I find the tourney's I win or at least come in the top 2 or 3 I fold a LOT and only play good solid hands in the beginning. Later in the tournament you have to play tight and smart or you will be eaten alive.
Sometimes, in the low pot beginnings I will bet just to see the flop before I make up my mind... see who stays in, if everyone just bets minimum... but I only do that some of the time. |

I think tat playing he mor chips the merrier. But I also think that if you bluff and lose a lot of your chips, the harder and desperate a player will have to play to stay in the game. I play good cards and hardly ever try to bluff.

I have yet to play amulti table tournament but thanks for the information, I can understand where that would make sense. I think, like Shirls, I would be the bad player people would target. |

well I mostly play the Freerolls. and those are all-in all the time by so many. They are very hard to play. Unless I really think I have a great hand I will not bet or call half my stack.
Unless I am distracted of course then I seem to make alot of dumb calls lol |
