COMMON POKER PLAYING MISTAKES

Mistake #4: Playing too many different types of games

There's an excellent old saying:
"Jack of all trades, master of None."

This is an accurate description for many intermediate players who constantly switch between No-Limit Hold'em ring games, Limit Hold'em ring games, tournaments, Omaha Hi-Lo, etc.

Intermediate players should begin to focus on excelling at one game before they start frequently playing many different types of games.

While it is a good idea to give different games a try, this should mainly be done just to figure out what sort of game one tends to perform the best at.
Once you have identified your best or favorite game, concentrate on improving at that one poker game.

In Conclusion-
Avoid bouncing around, you'll end up a mediocre player at best.

great advice patti, but i would only play no limit hold em anyway as limit hold em makes it harder to hit big wins and i totally detest omaha hi lo and would not give it the time of day lol

I would change games until I find the one that suits me or I feel is the game for me, once I find that then I stay put until the very end, as far as limits I personally would only play unlimited, but I would not get crazy with betting unless I was a billionaire lol, unlimited I feel would give me a better edge to win big.

I absolutely run all over the place with poker...just can't help myself!! I am easily bored I guess...lol

I love Hold'em no lmit. I do like BJ too but it is a far second to Hold'em.

Now as far as hold'em goes... I like the tournies, sattelites and 12 at a table. Don't like speed hold'em.

No bouncing is excellent advice, it makes perfect sense to me! I only have played hold'em online but I kind of like the idea of a basic 5 Card Draw because it is more simple, I think. There are a lot of things to keep in mind while playing hold'em and at times my mind has a hard time keeping things....lol. I also think it is a lot more fun to play with no limit.

I think about playing a lot of times, but I always chicken out in the end. Embarassed

I know it sounds silly, but I get real nervous about it. I wish I had a better answer......I will try harder though Rolling Eyes
