She began playing poker in 1991. Born in Tennessee, she grew up in Long Island, New York and now finds a home in Downey, California. She earned a B. S. degree in business and finance from Marist College. Kathy Liebert is the pioneer of women playing poker today. She is a huge contender in a game that has been previously dominated by men. Kathy understands the volatility of tournament poker.
Before the World Poker Tour began televising the event she won inaugural Party Poker Million first place prize was $1,000,000. She made a money deal with the second and third places taking about half of the advertised and with that, became the first woman to ever win a poker tournament with a first prize of a million dollars and now she is currently ranked in the top ten money winners at the World Series of Poker for women.
Since receiving her degree she has both tracked and invested in the stock market once even considering a career in the stock market. Yet poker still prevails. Kathy's numerous tournament achievements are highlighted by her win at the Party Poker Million. She won her first WSOP bracelet at the 2004 Limit Hold'em Shootout. Some of her other final table appearances were first in Omaha HiLo at the 2003 Poker Derby, first place finish in No Limit Holdem at 2003 Winning of the Green and second place finish in Limit Holdem at the 2003 World Series of Poker. She has also made strong efforts at World Poker Tour final tables at The Bicycle Casino, Aruba and Ladies Night Invitational. |
