JANUARY POKER THINKING FOR CASH
Presented by BowerCrush
POKER POSITION
The blinds rotate each hand.
The person to the left of the dealer pays the small blind, and the person to the left of the small blind pays the big blind.
In the preflop betting round, the player to the left of the big blind is the first to bet, and the big blind is the last to bet.
In all rounds after that, the small blind is the first to bet, and the dealer is last to bet.
Position is very important in poker, and here's why:
Information is power in poker, and each bet gives away information. If a person bets before you,
he gives you information you need to make your bet.
On the other hand, he has to make his bet without the information contained in your bet.
****Everyone posting about this subject will be in a random draw for 2 X $5 in prizes.****

If playing against a skilled player who knows they will be out of position, you can bluff preflop with inferior hands because they may not want to play the rest of the hand out of position. Bluffing preflop ins often under rated. It doesn't work, of course, against less skilled players who don't even realize they're out of position. |

For the amateur player, position is probably the most important and the most overlooked, aspect of the game. |

I prefer to be after the bettor, I think that gives me advantage, at least I am hoping for an advantage that way, unless you get these Bluffers ug. |

I like to be the last player betting , that way I can see if anyone is going to bet big and make me fold . than I just wasted money if the raise is really high . thank you |

This information, although very important to discuss, was kind of confusing to me. I did get the general idea though....I am not very advanced as far as poker goes.
If I am first and have anything, I usually bet something but then people fold because I'm not usually bold enough to wager much. Then, I don't end up winning very much.
I agree with Shirls and prefer to be last to bet to get a general idea of what other people are doing, and if I want to pay to stay in. |

I like to check if I can thru the first round the table go and see how people are betting. Then make my plays accordingly as needed. Unless I have a nice looking hand then I may bet but usually will slow play it for a little bit |

This is one thing I am very weak at. I play my hand according to what I have but I realize position is important - It is just not one of my strong points in poker. I really need to start paying attention in this area. |
