We had a wonderful chat tonight. Our Guru, who usually adheres to schedules to the very minute, arrived early so he and the early birds would have time to discuss the atrocious weather and its associated tragedies.
In fact, the bad weather in the States became the main topic of conversation. There was a tragedy in Michigan when this occured:
"Michigan Investigates Freezing Death of 93-Year-Old
Man Froze to Death After City Limited Power; He Owed More Than $1,000 on His Utility Bill."
Guru started a discussion on the state of a society where the elderly are left, unchecked and alone, with incomes too low to exist on. When they cannot keep their heating bill paid, their gas or electricity is too often turned off, leaving them to literally freeze to death, with icicles in their sinks.
The main idea was that we all should do more to try to improve this kind of society. Help can be volunteered in many, many ways.
We were all visibly shaken to consider "the true state of the Union", which has slipped into decline.
OJ, why was your mom not at chat tonight????? I missed her.
Sable's situation is slowly recovering. Jim starts back to work soon. Our prayers are still with you, Sable. Especially for Jim and his stiff/sore neck.
Congratulations on your purchase of a mini van.
Various physical problems were brought up. Prayers please for Jim, Marlene and Donna.
