I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE THIS THREAD JUST FOR AN OPEN DISCUSSION.
NOT TO JUDGE, BUT TO SUPPORT, AND MOSTLY TO LISTEN.
THIS TIME OF YEAR, IS ESPECIALLY HARD FOR MANY PEOPLE.
FEELINGS OF SADNESS CAN TURN INTO DESPAIR...... SO,
I AM ASKING............ "DO YOU WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT?"
FOR ME....
MY FAMILY IS WHO I CHOOSE TO LOVE, AND
YOU ARE MY FAMILY.
CRUSHERS ARE THEE BEST AT:
LIFTING YOU UP, SHOWING THEY CARE, BY HUGGING AND LOVING OR EVEN PRAYER.......
Love, Patti |

I am sure there are others out there, who, like me, are missing some of their family members. I have not laid eyes on my grandkids in 1 and a half years now and this is my second Christmas without them. I try to fill my time with friends but there comes a time when you just have to go to bed, then the loneliness comes crashing over you. Thank you, Patti, for giving me somewhere to share my feelings. Love ya!!!!! Donna |

I'm sorry, Donna, that you haven't seen your grandchildren. I know what a heartache that must be for you.
I also experience sadness during the holidays. My son moved out of my house when he was 15, about 16 years ago. He wouldn't talk to me for many years, not until my husband (his dad) died 9 years ago. Since then, I've talked to him 3 or 4 times, the last time being 4 years ago when we happened to be at the same family gathering. My heart aches from this frequently, but especially during the holidays, I am reminded of his absence in my life. For years, this season was hell for me. Living without my husband or son was extremely difficult for me.
This year was different. I have found love again and Sean helps me so much in dealing with my depression, my losses, and pain. He's been there to give me support when I need it. He helps me to see a more positive outlook on life which doesn't make me all better, but it helps a lot. I still have the feelings of loss, but I have tried concentrating on what I do have. I am very fortunate to have a special relationship with my daughter and her kids. My mom and a couple of my siblings care about me also. Most of all, I have all the love and support that I get from being a crusher, this has helped me more than I can say. I never believed anyone when they told me that in time things would get better, but it's turned out to be true. My life isn't everything I wished for but it's different. and better than what it was.
My heart goes out to you Donna and all of those that experience saddness at this time or any time, please know that I care very deeply. If there is ever anything I could do to help, please let me know. I know from experience what it's like to dread the holidays. |

Gloria, you have my deepest symapthy for the loss of time with your son. My son has not spoken to me since his brother's funeral. His step-mother told him that i was happy that his brother died .... and he believed her. Did not even come to me and ask me if it was true (which, of course, it wasn't). So in effect, I lost both of my sons that day. I feel your pain, believe, me. If it were not for my 2 sisters, I would have no contact at all with my family... and I have to call them.... neither of them call me. I am so sorry to dump all this in my reply. But, sometimes it helps just to let it out. My number is listed in the phone book, just in case any of my kids or grandkids would decide they want to talk to me. I just wish, they would. I miss them all sooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!
End of book...lol |

(((((JOSIE)))))
Please accept my personal Crush Hug for the holidays. I am so happy that you felt "comfy" enough to share with us.
I, am admitting something back to you, I have always been on the other end- where your daughter is.
Seems never enough money, never has been. THE HOLIDAYS ARE ALWAYS MET BY ME WITH ANGUISH, KNOWING I CAN NEVER GIVE BACK TO MY LOVED ONES ANYTHING really- I wish I could give them the world, but NEVER can.....
I AM OVERCOME BY SO MUCH GUILT EACH YEAR, I HATE IT.
GUILT AT, WELL EVERYTHING. GUILT IS SO HEAVY, SO PAINFUL.
WHAT I LOOK FORWARD TO EACH AND EVERY YEAR,
THE DAY AFTER-
MY ONLY LIGHT AT THE END OF A LONG TUNNELL-
AND SOMEHOW MAKE IT THROUGH, WELL SO FAR ANYWAYS....
Love Patti |

Josie... I am soooooo happy for you that at least you get to talk to your daughter!!!!! But at the same time, I am sorry for Patti, I know the broke feeling..... I live off SSI... less than $700 a month. It never seems to go far enough. I am thankful when I can win contests or bingo cash, cause it goes a long way for me. Josie, thank you for responding to my post. It does help to know that I am not the only one who dreads the holidays..... now about my birthday....... another matter entirely.... That is the day my son died and the last day of the year that I saw my grandkids........ I don't think I will ever celebrate on my birthday again.
end of book... chapter 2...llol |

Donna, that is so sad. My heart goes out to you. I think birthdays are highly overrated. I seem to find myself become aware of all that is missing on mine even when I try to be grateful for what I have. It's so hard when the losses are such big ones. I will certainly have special thoughts for you when your day is here. I deeply care about what you are feeling because I have been to that place.
Patti said something about light at the end of the tunnel....I do see a bit of light now; only in the past few months. Before that, for many years, I truly beleived that the tunnel was all I had left in my life. I sincerely hope that your days in the light are soon in coming.
Big hugs ~ Gloria |
