Hello to my flock of poker scholars and winners!

This will be a different kind of lesson than you are accustomed to, but it still will contain the things I believe you should know, as a serious poker enthusiast!

It contains what your Guru considers to be major happenings of 2008 in the poker world -- and hopefully shows why I am looking forward to a much better year in 2009!

_____________________________________

One of the biggest poker stories of 2008 was Peter Eastgate capturing the WSOP Main Event! He was crowned as the youngest ever WSOP Main Event Winner - and thus the 2008 World Poker Champion! Phil Hellmouth had held the distinction of being the youngest winner before Eastgate.

Eastgate won $9,152,416, which is the second biggest poker prize ever! Keep the faith, my Poker Crushers! By the time one of you becomes the World Champion, (yes, I am serious since I know your capabilities!), who knows how much higher the winning pot will have climbed?

Your Poker Guru considers the second most important story of 2008 to be the US Treasury publishing, in November, the regulations called for under the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling and Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
There are so many loopholes in the law and its language is so vague that any knowledgeable poker-interested person could interpret it to say just about anything - and be right! Way to go, typical government executive and legislative writers! LOL!

Representative Barney Frank and others were so outraged that they called for the publishing of the rules to be suspended until at least the biggest holes could be resolved! When Barney speaks, important people listen!

The rules, altho scaring far too many people into hasty acts, of which we, the online gamblers bear the sacrificial price of being denied a lot of online opportunities this past year, do not even require compliance for 12 more months, in December of 2009! And who knows what will happen by then? Their legality remains an ongoing debate! Seems to me a lot of onine gambling sites commited suicide or near-suicide by "jumping the gun" before taking time to learn the real facts! Just like (I simply MUST throw this in here) a lot of online players lose a lot of money and give up the game before taking time to become educated in the science and art of excellent poker-playing, such as the education they can achieve at Poker-Crush!

All in all, 2009 promises to be a MOST exciting year in online poker! As your Guru, I will do my very best to involve you in as much of the exciting opportunities as possible, while at the same time, protecting you from both the crooked and the idiotic!

I am looking forward to it as your Ever-lovin' Guru!

Actually, pouting is nothing new for Phil! LMAO!

I tell you this because I think it is time you all got to know some of the pros on a more personal basis, especially my 4th year scholars!

After rereading this message I caught the meaning here a lot of site did cut their nose off despite their face when it came down to profit margin. Even staying in the game to this point means millions lost I am sure.

I am glad to know that the gaming issue is still at the forefront in some minds thanks for the update
