--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello to my followers/poker scholars!
It always amazes me how many players undeniably in the "expert" category still read, ask questions,
and respond to my lessons here at Poker-Crush. That is a great compliment you pay me and I want to
take ths opportunity to tell you how much I appreciate it.
I would like to talk to you today a little bit more about the importance of where you sit at any
poker table.
Obviously, your position will change with every dealt hand, even tho you have not moved. That is
becuse the "button" HAS moved and the button symbolizes the hypothetical dealer. In turn, your
position is in direct relationship to how far from the dealer you are sitting.
The three chairs frthest from the dealer are called the "late position" and this is the best place
you can be. All other players will have already made their first move by the time it is your turn,
and you should have learned something about the strength of their hands from their actions. That
gives you the advantage because they know nothing about the strength of YOUR hand!
Therefore, if you are in a late position, you can always play a little looser, a bit more
aggresive, than you would in earlier positions.
THE POINT HERE IS THAT YOU SHOULD NOT PLAY THE SAME HAND THE SAME WAY EVERY TIME. You must first
consider your position and then place your bet or fold acordingly. It is normally safe to be rather
bold with your opening bet from late position. Those with a weak hand will have folded before it
gets back around to you. And with every player who folds, your odds of winning the hand increase.
So you should purposely be bold to scare those in earlier positions out. That is exactly what it
will do if they are good players. A good player always recognizes his disadvatages as well as his
advantages.
Another thing to keep in mind when you are sitting in late position at any deal of the cards is
that this is the safest time to bluff. You cannot be a consistent winner in poker (consistent
winner = what it takes to be a pro unless you do attempt a bluff once in a while. Thia is the time
to do it. You might run 2 or 3 more players out of the game and it is also possible that you will
run them ALL out, in which case the pot is YOURS.
I personally never attempt a bluff from an early postion. Remember, also, that in general, most
good poker players do NOT bluff very often, even if the movies and television dramas say otherwise.
Seldom is it wise to call a bluff. Chances are very good that it is not really the bluff it appears
to be. The player has, instead, skillfully fooled you into thinking that he is bluffing so that you
will call his bet ar even raise, thereby putting more of your money into HIS pot and pocket.
More to come on how position should influence the way you play your hands in coming lessons. Many
of you have communicated to me that you prefer more lessons more often, but shorter in length and
covering fewer topics. All indications are that you learn better and faster in that way. Thus, YOU
HAVE SPOKEN as I wished you to, and I have listened and responded.
It is always my pleasure to make all things easier for you and to experiment in ways to send you to
the profit-making side of the coin as soon as possible. IT PLEASES ME TO SEE SEVERAL OF YOU MAKING
THAT TRANSITION!
Until next time, I remain proudly

Thank you very much, Poker Scholar Mojo.
Remember this: It takes great scholars like you, willing and ready always to learn even more, to make any teacher a great one.
Keep your eagerness to know alive and keep practicing what you learn, as you learn it, so it will become second nature to you.
You show great potential, Mojo, partly because you are willing to think and play with logic and greatly because you are never the type to think you already know all that you need to know.
I very much admire your attitude and openess with me and so I will always be proudly
