EASY POKER LESSONS from PokerGuru PAYING OFF

Hello Opponent-Crushin' Poker Crushers! Your old PokerGuru is being rewarded by YOU, more and more of you every day, with reports of your playing that just keep on making me prouder and prouder! You are truly proving that Poker-Crush members are well-named as Poker Crushers!

I thank you for the trust you have put in me. I thank you for making changes to the way you were playing and accepting my recommendations to improve your game. I thank you for keeping me up-to-date on how you are doing individually at the tables. It is paying off so much already for some of you that it literally brings tears to the eyes of this old Guru.

I love watching you using one of the two notebooks I suggested ......using it and keeping track of the profits several of you are already making, profits that are NOW going up and up! And we have just begun! It does my heart so much good that I just may live forever!

For all of the beginners at playing poker......those of you who never dreamed you could learn to even LIKE poker, much less learn how to play well, thank you for putting your trust in doing it my way......the way I have made a darn good living for several years now.

I love reading about your surprise to discover that you like raking in poker money more than you liked playing slots! Now you know why the poker world has started exploding with popularity worldwide.....even to the point of non-players watching it on television.

I want to keep you very realistic, however, and not let you get carried away to the point of getting careless with your hard-earned money. And for goodness sake, I want to impress upon you time and again not to get careless when you are playing! You must learn to recognize when you are getting careless by realizing that a play you just made was not the smartest move you could have made. And realizing that, you must recognize that you are for that particular game, now playing on tilt. Know for sure that it is time to quit now, whether your stack of chips is up or down. There will be another game easy to find any time you want to play again AFTER you have rested, refreshed yourself however you do that in your own particular style, and feel eager, excited, energetic, wide awake, and most of all sharp-minded again!

Now you may laugh at this next bit of advice, but do it anyway, whether you are playing at a land casino or on your computer in your own home. Immediately before you sit down to play, wash at least your face, neck, hands, and arms, put on at least a fresh shirt, make sure your fingernails are as immaculate as possible, and brush your hair, male or female, with a little fresh and cold water and do NOT dry it. Almost 90% of your body heat leaves through your head, and hair that is a little damp with water, not oil or anything else, will keep you from becoming too warm, which makes your mind sluggish and will put you right back on the road to tilt. I often wear a clean bandanna around my neck, dampened before I put it on with cold water or even folded over in a way that lets me start out with ice inside it. I know it must sound crazy to you at first, but I guarantee it will make a remarkable difference in how sharp your mind stays and how much better you play. It is time-tested and proven and I seriously doubt if many poker pros would give away that little secret to you. It is as simple as when you feel better and look better, you play better. Whether at home or somewhere else. And EVERY time you sit out to go to the restroom or bathroom, redo the water-dampening with fresh water as cold as possible. The difference in the height of your stacks of chips at the end of the session if you follow this routine as a serious rule will amaze you! Every time!

When you first approach a nearly full table, and I recommend a table with chairs for 9 or 10 players, before you sit down, look at every player's stacks of chips. If one player has far more chips than anyone else, DON'T sit down. Find another table!

Also, when you are looking at their stacks, pick a seat as close to the left of the player with the most chips, as long as it is not remarkably higher than anyone else's.

You have a wide choice of tables, especially if you are playing online poker, so take your time to select the right one for you. For example, if the only available seat is close to the right of the player with the most chips, MOVE ON and find another table.

We don't have time right here and now for me to explain all the reasons for these recommendations, but we will get around to it eventually. Since I want to advance you as quickly as possible to the profit-making field of players, I want to get in as many suggestions as possible as fast as possible. And since you all have shown so much trust in me, based on your own experiences and even experiments to test me out, I have decided to pick up your pace of learning by saving some of the "reasons why" until later. You will probably discover the reasons for yourself if you follow my rules faithfully. They are the very same rules that I personally play by. Without fail. Also without failure the vast majority of the time.

In one way of looking at it, it is a shame that almost everybody it seems is now dicovering that winning at poker is based on these skills and knowledge that can be learned, and has very little to do with luck. That is why I want to start speeding you up a bit......to get you in the vanguard and keep you there, of this explosion of the numbers of people now making money by playing good poker.

Good poker is poker played with the knowledge of a large number of rules as simple as the ones I have talked about here. Plus a few not-so-simple ones that you will be ready for when we get to them. TRUST ME. Just the way you have been doing, bless your gentle hearts.

Easy lessons, learned and practiced and never forgotten, is what is making you well-qualified to play good poker. And that is what is blessing MY gentle heart!

Until next time......when you will find my feature article (the poker university) right here in this same thread of this same forum which now has my name at the top in the title......look for PokerGuru's Tips and Strategies in the title. Our little flock of people who want to learn more (the most special people) and our little International Poker University have our own page now!

So feel free to post ANYTHING here and let's make this thread go on forever to become the longest poker forum thread in the world! with this as its First Real Guru-level University post. We don't even have to talk about poker ALL the time. It's a very, very interesting world out there full of trillions of things worth talking about for people who like to learn anything and everything. They, after all, make the best poker players!

See you real soon. Same station. Any old time. I will check every day here for posts. Tell us anything or ask anything. We, especially I, want to read YOUR words! Even if you can't spell. Spelling doesn't count in Poker school!

NEW MEMBERS, I guarantee you will be greeted warmly and with much appreciation for joining us. We are free! LOL And the more, the merrier!
Right, Poker Crushers????????

Bless all gentle hearts.

Your PokerGuru

God bless you, Doc!

And I will say right out loud, here in public, here and now, hoping everybody understands that we are both very normal, average guys (although I feel and try to show respect to ALL individuals of every imagineable type), still hoping everyone understands us both, I will shout it out: I LOVE YOU, TOO!

Any word of praise coming from DrCrush I just eat right up with a spoon and it tastes delicious! That is because of the respect I have for Doc, for many reasons, among them his willingness to help anybody, anytime, in any way he can. Speaking of gentle hearts!

Anyway, thank you for reading AND responding, Doctor!

My very best wishes to you, as always,

YOUR PokerGuru

Dearest PokerGuru ~

You are not the only one who had tears in their eyes. I think it was the blessing of tender hearts that finally broke me down to real crying when I started thinking of all those who have them.

It inspired me to believe there may be hope for this old world yet!

It's not all about wars and poverty and terrible losses and cruelty after all, Not as long as we have enough tender hearts in the world.

Thank you. You are quite an inspiration in more ways than just poker.

Such a wonderful post! And wonderful responses to it, and to our beloved Guru, from our site-mates!!! Very Happy

Actually, everything, and I mean everything made absolute sense to me, I got it immediately. I am so glad I read this post before an important Team game tonight, where our individual points are much needed, and hope that taking this and all of the other advice, tips and strategies you have been so kind to lavish on us thus far, will help me bring in points 2nite.

As soon as you begin to speak about keeping the cool wet items or just the skin to keep our minds fresh, I was reminded of so many years ago, in grade school band. We had a very temperamental and often strange band Instructor... who was also very smart and very good! He would keep the temperature in our bandroom down, and of course we all complained about it being the children that we were... however years later I came to understand how important that was to keeping us alert and playing our best, as well as keeping our minds on edge and able to take in the vast instructions that we had to learn in short periods of time. I have often wet my hair to get back that fresh feeling or to wake me up. And I am one of the rare females that never dries my hair after my shower, LOL. I never understood why, but I knew it made me feel alert, fresh and something... I just could never quite put my finger on, for longer periods of time, than dry hair... I think I get it now, lol. I also gleamed a bit from those ritual grooming suggestions as I have used similar concepts in my creative endeavors, especially when there was much to do, and I needed every ounce of my brain and ego in sync. I am going to reread this, again before the game, prepare for the game, and I am also w/ your permission going to pass this post on to someone who is very close to me, and is a Master Chess player. He has a tournament coming up this month, and I feel these tips, can aid him tremendously! You are awesome, not only in that you have these fantastic ideas but that you share them with us!

As I read the parts about picking tables, I envisioned the tables, the players, the chip stacks, even the locations on the tables of these scenerios you were creating, and I could see exactly why you said these things. You are indeed a jewel! I can't fathom the value of these things that you offer us, but I know that I will listen, learn and live it!

I plan reread this often until these things are second nature, Very Happy!

As always, I am so thrilled to be part of such a wonderful community, and now I hope to graduate from PokerGuru's Poker-Crush International Poker University!!! Very HappyVery HappyVery Happy

xoxo, faithfully your Guru-groupie,

Yes indeedy, ORANGE CRUSH, notLOL is, I'm sure, speaking for a lot of Poker Crushers when she says she is soooooo happy to see you leaping over the fence to see Casino-Crush's little brother site!

And you have REALLY made MY day! I could hardly believe it when I saw Orangie's name here, among all the other poker-playing members who want to get even better by attending our imaginary WorldWide Poker University! Or maybe it's not imaginary! I guess this group of learners can call ourselves anything we want to, but we absolutely MUST put the name "Poker-Crush" in front of whatever we name ourselves, because we are after all, first and foremost, the POKER-CRUSH membership! Thanks to Geno, we have a wonderful place here to get together and learn from one another!

THANK YOU, GENO!

I hope we will soon be able to have a Poker-Crush poker team! We can challenge the members of any other poker forum on the internet! I would put MY POKER SCHOLARS up against ANY other amateur team! That is for sure and certain!

Hey EVERYBODY! I just happen to know that ORANGE CRUSH is a darn good poker player NOW! Wouldn't it be great to have a team of our own with HER on it???????!!!!!!!

Again, thank you, Orangie, for making everybody here's day! It's a good thing this is by computer instead of in person because we would all hug you to death!

So very, very, very proud to be

YOUR PokerGuru

Well this is interesting about the seating arrangement. I know when I go to a table I usually pick a seat if possible. I know your going to laugh but I have "feelings" about where I sit LOL Superstitious maybe. I never paid any attention what kind of money they had next to me.

Now I don't like playing at a table where someone has like $39,000 and everyone around has $2000 or $3000. Mainly because they usually can take many a pot by making everyone go all in or fold.

So gee I have been doing something right .. well sorta.. but for different reasons hahahaha
