Annie Duke was born in Concord, New Hampshire. At the ripe age of she began playing poker and left the University of Pennsylvania to play poker full time.
Annie learned the game of poker from her brother Howard Lederer - who is considered one of the most respected players along with Ted Forrest, Jennifer Harman, and Eric Seidel on the poker circuit today. Annie can usually be found playing in many of the higher-limit tournaments and cash games in Las Vegas, where she currently lives.
Annie works with UltimateBet.com, where she promotes the site and writes related articles on poker. Annie Duke is considered by most to be the best female poker player in the world and she proves that women can excel in poker, which has traditionally been dominated by males.
Annie is the top female World Series of Poker money winner in history and will always be remembered when she finished in 10th place at the WSOP when she was eight months pregnant. |

Speaking of Annie Duke, I just have to do a little of what I think they call name-dropping here.
I played in a tournament VERY recently in which Annie was also playing. I did not get to go "heads up" with her, needless to say, because I was knocked out three-fourths of the way thru the tournament. All I can brag about is that I lasted for one and a half hours of very intensive playing."
Why does it feel both good AND so bad to boast about poker?
