Ohhhhhhhhh I was soooooooooooo upset LOL

I had a pair of kings.

The flop: 4 K 4

another player bet and I called.

The turn was a 9 so no problem there I had a full house. The other player bet and I raised.

Then they went all in. So I thought well maybe they have 3 4's or a K4 and I still had them beat so I went all in.

The river... another 4 I thought I had it made...

WRONG!! They had a 4 in their hand and won with 4 of a kind!

OUCH!

I would have gone hard/all in after the flop to prevent them from getting to the river which is the card that dealt the blow...............lust my 2 cents

valeria,
If it's any consellation at all - I'd have done what you did but then I'm rubbish at Poker lol - which is why personally I don't tend to play lmaoo - but once I feel more confident from reading more of the Guru's tips I will try again wink

Good luck in the future and I guess from mirrors response that sounds like it may have been a good plan but of course might have lowered the pot if everyone folded right away.. (I think I'm right by saying that but I'm sure our Guru will correct me as it's more his bag than mine)..

Good luck in the future wink

Cheers,
Geno / PC

Yea Valeria I think I agree with Charla....a bad beat....it happened to me a while ago, way back when ....the 4's were 3's....i went all in as well i had pair of k's and flop was 3 k 3, player that called me was holding pair of threes. guess it happens....though woulda beeen real nice if another king woulda came on the turn or hey river. not even sure what the last two cards were just know my full house didnt beat a four of kind threes.

i was crazy beside myself back when it happend ...kinda put me on tilt...
for awhile.

Well the sad thing was... this guys cards were.... J 4 I had a pair of kings and a full house on the flop while he had 3 4's and he went all in.

I would have raised very high on the flop but Guru said I have been to aggressive ROFL in this case maybe aggressive would have been the key... dunno

I'd chalk it up to "Bad Beat" Val. It's perfectly understandable that you would try to get the most out of the boat. Just the fact that he was playing J-4 tells you that an all-in bet would be unlikely to get him out of the hand anyway. He would most likely have called with the trip 4's.

You played it right, I think, Val, It's all about odds and i would want to maximize the pot with a big full house like that. The fact he got his case 4 was a 1 in a 100 (atually about 1 in 50 ) shot so it was a bad beat. If you would've pushed all in early it probaby would've been the same result, cause I doubt he would've folded his set of 4s.

Hi Valeria and all my other great PCers!

First.....I have really enjoyed seeing the way your sitemates have responed to you, Valeria. That shows our great cohesiveness and esprit de corps, which makes me very proud!

Do you know why they had no hesitation about responding? I do. It was because they were confident in knowing that their responses were RIGHT ON!

It is unfortunate that the timing of this came just after our PM conversation and my advice to you about your trend to play too loosely aggressive. Because that still stands.

BUT....this time....that was definitely one of those BAD BEATS that come along once in a while (rarely, thank the Great Poker God!) for which not a single remedy exists!

This is the very same condition that knocked me out of the 2007 World Series of Poker! I was enraged! It had been completely out of my power....as this hand was out of yours!

You asked me how I would have played this hand. My answer is: EXACTLY THE SAME WAY YOU DID! It had to have been heartbreaking to you and I am so sorry it happened! But it did and it does....a time or two a year for most of us. Now you have to realize it for what it was, put it behind you, and DO NOT allow it to afect your playing the way you know you should. Your advancement has been amazing! One freak happening has no importance as far as your overall playing!

I am still so proud of your progress....and so proud of all those who responded to you!

GENO! I, TOO, WAS DELIGHTED TO FIND A POST FROM YOU! PLEASE REMEMBER ALWAYS, YOUR COMMENTS ARE ALWAYS SO WELCOMED FROM ALL OF US....and indeed a compliment to us!

YOUR Guru and delighted to be!

Thanks for the wonderful word everyone and you too Guru.

I kind of felt I should give up poker for a week or so. Oh not because of this hand I think I played it ok.

It just seems to me that maybe I am on tilt. Lately I have been second guessing myself a lot, am not playing like I used to which worked for me (though I did improve with Guru's lessons and building up my confidence.) but now it sems no matter what I do I can't play up to my normal standards and stats.

I know in the last couple of weeks I have been getting a LOT of bad beats at least more than seems normal. I mean my full houses and flushes and such keep getting beat by one card or so. No matter how good my hands are I can't seem to win all that many or at least compared what I used to win. So I must be doing something wrong or I am on a major tilt and don't know it.

Last night I had some fantastic hands to play but I still lost many of them.

Anyway, I still love the game and will keep on playing and learning. But maybe a week rest or so will clear my head.

Also my betting stratagy has changed, my "feel" or rythmn is gone and I am having issues with myself. It doesn't "feel" like me playing anymore and I have pulled myself out of hands trying to play smart - which on retrospect wasn't the way to play that hand, so was losing a lot of money that way too.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Dearest Valeria,

Venting is necessary for us all and is welcomed here among understanding friends.

A break or rest is also occassionally required, for me too.

But make "smart playing" a part of YOUR game, PLEASE. Poker played any way except with the odds and proven statistics backing you up will always be losing poker.

Your understanding GURU

Hey valeria....dont let it get to you...and if you think you need a break then hey only you know what is going to work for you, no matter what anyone says , you in your heart and subconscience knows. I think you are a very good player. When playing up against you....I really get my confidence tested...which makes it a better game to me. Dont let these bad beats get you down and also dont let them ruin your game, use them to help you learn that there are those outs which we need to remember.
I for sure know what you mean about the feeling tilt....i still go thru those tilty days....and its best to keep it practice when feeling like that...i stay to the freerolls and dont play cash games when i feel like my flow has a break in the drift of my flow....hey dont let it get you down...youll be fine.
wow when i read your past two posts, my heart went to you....i know the feeling for sure. now dont let it phsyc you out...just try and remember the chance of them off the wall outs....if you knowwhat i mean...like the four of kind outta whew who woulda seen that coming hands...or the ouch flushes that beat the high straights, full houses are nice only....bigger full houses win as well. i found that now i dont play as many hands before the flop, i used to have to see the flop....even if i had a 9 and 2 in my hand....for the simple fact....you just never know when a flop will throw ya....two 9's and a 2.....lol.....every lil chip counts....and im trying to be alil overly cautious at times...i get tricked alot....and some people like to ruin their flow by showing me when they bluffed me....then pulll a whew darn he/she wasnt bluffin this time....there goes my chips.... well like Guru said venting is good...and this is the place to vent when it comes to poker or anything for that matter we always listen... love ya girl... keep your chin up and know you are a good thinker!!! sometimes maybe you out think yourself.....i know for sure i do. see you at the tables in todays tournament .... and thanks for the heads up when the registration started...otherwise i wouldve not been registered yet....dont let the bad beats get you down. they are bound to happen.
