Hello to my patient scholars!
If my lesson today seems a little unorganized, it is because I have to keep writing it in pieces. The vicious lightning storms again. I don't want to let them destroy a borrowed computer!
We can't seem to get rid of these storms. Lightning actually killed someone here yesterday! So I am online and offline and back.
Today I want to point out some advantages of playing online poker instead of going to a land casino.
1. YOU CAN WATCH.
If you walk into a bricks and mortar casino tomorrow and decide you would like to just watch a game of Texas Holdʹem to better understand how it’s played, security will soon hustle you out of the building. Poker is not a spectator sport at casinos.
If you want to learn the game ‐ you need to play. And playing when you’re a rookie (or as the pros call it – a ‘fish’) can be a very expensive learning experience at a casino.
2. YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHAT’S IN THE POT?
Online, the total is calculated for you to the penny. This makes calculations about how much to bet very accurate.
Why is this important? The more accurate your knowledge of the pot, the better able you are to know exactly how much you should be betting on a given hand. Online Poker is a Pot Betting dream come true. Sharpen up your math skills a bit, and you are on the road to making money.
3. YOU HAVE MORE TABLE AND BETTING CHOICES!
Have you ever walked into a real casino looking for a seat at a card game? You may be lucky to find a few dozen. There are thousands of online casinos with dozens or hundreds of tables at each one fro you to choose from.
You can pick from a wide‐range of betting options and from an infinite variety of different player combinations – combinations you will have observed before putting down your hard‐earned money. And you can do this in a matter of minutes right from your computer screen.
Never have there been so many options for the poker player willing to learn. Remember, you are not just playing against the odds, you are playing against other players and in a mathematical sense, the table as a whole.
This is the real key to winning. Look for a table with the greatest number of weaker players and you will have an automatic advantage.
Gotta shut down from lightning again now. Will tell you how to find the weaker players later. Hang with me, friends!

Guru, I agree with what you have written so far. I wish your storms would move out to sea,but it looks like they are there to stay for a while, I am praying it is only a little while. |

So true Guru! Playing online hides weaknesses or tells easily picked up by your opponents playing at land-based room. Many of those "tells" are ones you probably will never be aware of or told you even have them - just scribbled somewhere under your name in someone's notepad. Also...and correct me if i'm wrong...playing online, gender plays much less of an effect/factor than it would playing at a land-based room - especially for the male players. Online, most players are well aware by now of players lying about their gender in attempts to gain some kind of an advantage. Where as in a land-based room, I'll be the first to admit, that if a hot woman sitting across from me and knew what she was doing, could easily manipulate my play. So stay safe - stay home on your computer...LOL! |
