Welcome to Hags vs Hogs - The ultimate battle of the sexes poker team competition.
A Hags vs Hogs (HvH) tournament is played in two stages:
1) A preliminary multi-table tournament for each gender to determine the final table participants.
2) A Sit and Go final table that will consist of either six or ten players, depending on the number of players signed up to play in the preliminary events. The final table event will be a Team Play event with the winner being crowned Queen Hag or Boss Hog.
Team Play Format
Your goal at the final table is to knock out the players of the opposing team. Keeping members of your team at the table allows your team to have a greater chance of winning the event. Normally illegal plays in poker such as Soft playing or Chip dumping are allowed to take place at the final table to try and help the players on your side win the tournament.
Once there are no opposing team players left on the final table, then it’s back to regular rules of poker playing for yourself to determine the overall winner.
Buy-in and Prizes
The buy-in for the preliminary event will cover entry into both the gender game and the final table. Matching entry fees collected from both teams will make up an added prize pool for the final table event. Any overage due to one side having more players than the other will be split among that team's final table players. The overage and added amounts will be manually credited to each player on the winning team within three business days of the event.
The winner of the final table wins an entry to next week's preliminary event. And as you will quickly learn, bragging rights for the winners are big in the ongoing HvH competition and subsequent trash talk.
Participation
In order to participate in the HvH tournaments, please read the following rules section, then E-mail events@ironduke.com with the "HvH" in the subject line. In the body of your message, you must include the following information:
1) That you agree to abide by the rules
2) Your full name
3) Your Iron Duke table name
4) Your gender
Players submitting a valid request will be awarded a coupon allowing them to register for their side's preliminary events. The coupon will not expire, and can be used again each week.
Rules
o) Although chip dumping and soft play are normally grounds for losing your account, the network has agreed to allow such tactics to take place in only at the HvH final table event. Use of these tactics anywhere else is grounds for termination of your account.
o) No chat at the table, nor away from the table can convey information to other team members on how to play an upcoming hand or a hand in progress at the table. It is up to each team member to figure out what they can do to improve their teammates' chance of survival, while knocking out players on the opposing team. Once a hand is over, you are allowed to discuss what types of play could have occurred.
o) Using messaging programs or other means of communication to discuss tactics, or misrepresenting oneelf as a member of the opposite sex will be treated as a fraudulant act, and the player's account will be closed with any funds in it subject to seizure. Abusive chat or other rule infractions can result in warings, chat bans, loss of the player's entry coupon, or other sanctions deemed appropriate by the site.
o) Anything other than a friendly, trash talk type of banter will not be tolerated.
o) These rules can be added to, altered and/or refined at anytime deemed appropriate by IronDuke or Merge Network management.
Players have 15 minutes once the last prelimonary game is finished to take their seat at the HvH Final Table. If a player doesn't sit within that 15 minute period a ticket will be issued to the runner-up(s) at 10 minute intervals. The seat then goes to the first one to sit with no compensation due to the absent player(s). |
