The Last Straw
Six guys were playing poker when Smith loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest and drops dead at the table. Showing respect for their fallen comrade, the other five complete their playing time standing up.
Roberts looks around and asks, "Now, who is going to tell the wife?"
They draw straws. Rippington, who is always a loser, picks the short one. They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don't make a bad situation any worse than it is.
"Gentlemen! Discreet? I'm the most discreet man you will ever meet. Discretion is my middle name, leave it to me."
Rippington walks over to the Smith house, knocks on the door, the wife answers, asks what he wants.
Rippington says, "Your husband just lost $500 playing cards."
She hollers, "TELL HIM TO DROP DEAD!"
Rippington says, "I'll tell him. |

Oh you are quit welcome, I was almost thinking it sick, though i thought again, and sometimes its quite ironic how it was the answer to the dude who drew the last straw was able to allow the wifes response to justify a notice of actuality, in which he did not offer the realness of her response.
kind of a lil bit of recognization one could just spout off some pretty severe retourts from angry spoken words. and as a matter of fact i myself have spouted off a few things here recently to my guy and well made me think i should not generate that type of negative supporting responses, to what i may think is really messed up at the time.....whew if you followed that , more power to you......only because it is not power you seek....
hey guess what , my dear sitemate, royalblush?, my son is in the mountains in west virginia as i type this post, went there for the weekend , visiting his pop pop. PopPop is my sons stepmoms dad.
my son just went right before christmas to meet his father again after not knowing him for the past 15 yrs, since i left his dad in cali when my son was a year old, my son is 16 now. im tellin ya , what a relief to know my son knows his dad and has a chance to deal with some of himself which genetically i was not responsible for.....ha ha ha......i think his father is stilll in shock , and dealing with things of himself, my son presents, and finding out ummm.....maybe i better rethink some of what i think i represent. anywho none the less, yet all the more, my son is doing well.
didnt mean to babble at the keys again, guess i just needed to get that out.... hey i shouldve blogged it....naw...if when i hit submit, it posts then its done.

rofl... oh that was 2 funny... and you are right, it definitely makes us think... kinda scary huh, ewwwwwww!!! Well, i'll just make sure either I'm NOT hosting the poker game, or instead of an Ace up my sleeve I'll have a handy long straw, hehe. And now I'll end up having to think when I'm about to make some off-the-cuff SmA retort... not that it will do any good, I'll probably make it anyway, but I will at least try, lol. And what would our lives be without our children to make us think of everything their presence means!!! |

And what does their absence mean, (to you), Tammy, my friend?
I could go on and on about the absence (only 30 miles away physically, but 30,000 miles away emotionally of my son. After us being as close as any 2 human beings could possibly be for 20-some years.
Just a thought out of the blue while reading your post.
Your friend,

My dear friend Joy and sitesmate notLOL ~
I was so excited to hear that your son is in WV! Especially so, since I live in the #1, well maybe #2 tourist spot in this state.
Fayetteville is the town famous for having the longest something or other type of bridge in the world (it stretches from one mountain ridge to another across the New River Gorge valley, the "Grand Canyon of the East").
Also famous for supposedly the best white water rafting, its fishing, mountain bike riding and hiking, horseback riding trails, et,. etc., ad nauseum.
Also a walking tour of our small town, scene of a famous Civil War battlefield. For the walking tour to see the now-a-day sites, they give the tourists a walking map AND GUESS WHAT IS ON THAT MAP as one of the sites to see: OUR HOUSE! (without our permission or knowledge, they put it on the map and now we spend all summer answering the doorbell and saying, I'm sorry but this is now just a private residence, occupied by two working-class people.
Sometimes, even tho we won't let them in the house, we see them traipsing all over our yard, looking for souveneirs!!!
But I got off the track. I wanted to ask you where in this state the boy's dad lives. Can't help but wonder if I know him. Would love to sometime meet your SON!
Let me know, okay?
Your loyal friend,

If I were to reply to this in full, we'd have to change the name from "posts" and "threads" to BOOKS, lol. My sons are the sun and the moon, and the oxygen of my world, to say the least. I get the best of everything in the two of them. My oldest is the depth, intensity and passion of life, and my youngest is the energy, the warmth, the very essence of vibrant. Both of my children are special needs, and our life has had its ups and downs and more than our share of challenges, but I wouldn't change it for all the royal flushes in the world... it's our life and it's perfect for us, and part of what makes the three of us who we are.

What a wonderful view you have of yourselves, Tammy! You have to be a totally neat person with all your attitudes that I have read.
About your view -- you know, there are 360 different ways of looking at any one thing, because there are 360 degrees in a circle, and what you see depends on where you stand (at which degree).
Thank God we have both the ability and the challenge to view everything from any of the 360 places around everything. I believe that is the main factor in determining our moods, and therefore we have the ability to change our mood if we don't like the one we are in!
Unless there is something faulty in my reasoning.

You flatter me, honestly! But you also challenge me to think at a higher level than just first gear! For that, I thank you even more.

What was supposed to go right here was the post I stupidly (as in a stupor) posted as my last one under the thread "Game Points Contest".
Reason: none. plea: guilty
Excuses: Well, how many do you want to hear? tehee
