Dear Sweet Tammy,
You deserved every bit of that praise! What a play that was!
And guess what! You said you might print out my comments and hang the printout over your computer. Good idea!
Know why I said "good idea"?
Because that is exactly what I am going to do with your response!
I HAVE NEVER HAD SOMEONE COME RIGHT AND TELL ME THEY WERE MY GURU-GROUPIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You sure made MY day! THANK YOU!
And keep up that kind of playing! Your old Guru likes to feel proud!
Very honored to be
Your PokerGuru |

lol... i'm beginning to feel like i'm hogging the new members contest thread but i can't NOT respond...
My dear Guruness...
I'm tickled PINK>>> hehe... and guess whot... I finally cashed in one of those 3k+ entrants freerolls tonight... for a whole $1.50 lol... but I held in there and made it. #255... and that was because after that long... I was just so happy to have finally cashed that when someone made a raise on my big blind, and I was holding the K,10 of clubs... I said, what the hay... I've already cashed... lets go for it. I did land a pair of KK... but unfortunately someone landed some AA's... so oh well... I was just thrilled to have finally done it. next time I'll worry about making it higher. I already had played in one tourney tonight, and my brain was fried, lol.
so, I've been playing online poker, texas holdem for about 5 weeks now, and I've cashed about seven times in freerolls. and I've made a few bux at the cash tables.
I'm thrilled. And I have a home at the best POKER FORUM anywhere...... POKER CRUSH..... YIPPEE... and I have a bunch of new friends... a Doc and my very own Guru, to be a groupie to... what more can a gal ask for??? |

Tammy,
Honey, don't worry about "hogging" any thread! After all, the more posts we get, the happier we are......and that goes double for me personally!
Congratulations on all the REALLY GOOD poker playing you have been doing!
BUT......You know I have to "get on your case" about the way you played that K-10. BAD GIRL! LOL Now you have been reprimanded! LMAO!
But seriously, and you know because you admitted your brain was fried, WHICH MEANS YOU WERE ON TILT and should stop playing..... DON'T EVER call when somebody raises and all you have is K-10, even if they are suited! That is time to FOLD!
I'm sure you know that but didn't follow the rule because you were "TILTED OUT".
All in all, however, you are doing GREAT!
You are ALREADY MAKING MONEY PLAYING POKER!
Very proud to be

ok... now I finally know what this "tilt" thing is, lol...
yep, I knew better... and I think I was tilted out... and frustrated w/ some of the people I was stuck @ table with... I still get hotheaded in these tourneys sometimes (yes, I still need to work on that... I got this problem w/ "principal" LOL)... I had just got thru telling myself to play it tight and hold out for as long as I could... and then this ... person raises my big blind which had just gone up to 1k and I kinda felt pot committed, and he'd been calling, raising and all-inning w/ not much of anything, so I figured it was more than worth a shot, and the A, that landed him the pair of A's didn't turn up til the river, so... u know?... I could have held out for another blind or two, but that really wasn't going to get me to the next cash level, so like I said, I figured what the hey... but yes, under normal circumstances I know better than to call a raise on that when I need to be tight. I play really conservatively for the most part so when I call a raise or go all-in, it means one of two things... either I've got a killer hand or I don't buy what the other player is selling, LOL.
as always, thanks for the new term, and for the tips, you know I listen!
xoxo from your guruness's groupie! |

Dear Prize student Tammy!
Would you be offended if I told you that your cute little excited hamster represents to me your personality? So positive, upbeat almost all the time, and knowing how to get the most out of life!
You also remind me a bit of another of my prize followers, someone who I hope is about ready to trade in the negative part of her nickname to a positve one!
Now back to your mastering the game of poker.......
You can always change tables anytime you want to if, instead of tourneys, you play more at the ring tables. Those are the ones that are not involved in a tourney. The only players are the ones seated at the table who come and go as they please.
I want to tell you that even tho you played that K-10 wrong, you were the victim of the worst kind of beating......what is called a BAD BEAT. Called that because the guy who won got his winning card on the river and could even have been a FISH......one who is NOT a good poker player.......thus it is called a bad beat. Some poker sites even give a money prize to those who lose a hand because of a bad beat.
One more comment......When you raise or go all in, your reasons for doing so are absolutely the RIGHT reasons! So stick with that strategy. It is good.
Your enthusiasm truly inspires me to my very best at my job here!
Your proud PokerGuru |

I would NOT be at all offended, as that is exactly what my cute excited little dancing hamster is supposed to represent, me! (i'm probably not as cute, not sure I can dance as cool... but am definitely that excitable and hyper, hehe)
I practiced keeping my temper and my hands in check tonight... whilst at an obligatory team freeroll... and had occasion to be tabled up w/ more than a few unscrupulous and annoying players. I managed pretty well, although, the hands did not come tonight, so unfortunately I wasn't able to bring in any points, but did last to top 15% percent. I folded, three K,10 suiteds and two A,10 suiteds, LOL. I admit, it was really hard to hit the fold button, but I did.
apparantly I outlasted 75% of my teammates, who have been playing poker a whole lot longer than me.
ok, now explain to me exactly what a ring table is, so that I understand. I think I know, but I would rather have the real explanation than my guess. My whole intention, beyond participating in team poker, in playing these freerolls, is to gain a range of experiences, and hopefully continue to develop my little "stashes" that are slowly growing at a number of poker sites, and then to get more serious, and turn those little stashes into something, all the while, doing this at little or no cost to myself, while i learn.
thank you so much for both your praises and your admonishments, as i take both to heart, and learn from them and gain more confidence in my plays.
xoxo, from your faithful Guru-groupie |

(crush'um down, crush'em down, crush'em down NOW!
They're more experienced, I'm more knowin' HOW!)
Dear faithful Guru-groupie Tammy,
AT THE TOP OF THIS POST IS A CHEER I COMPOSED JUST FOR YOU.
Your progress up thru the ranks is amazing! And I believe I know just how you are advancing so rapidly. Tell me if I am wrong. (Altho a Guru is never wrong. LMBO!!!!!)
Your method is to follow these UPWARD footsteps: !. Taking note of all you learn 2. REMEMBERING all you have taken note of 3. PRACTICING what you learn AS you learn 4. Sticking to the practices WITHOUT EXCEPTION.
That is the winning combination at the point where you are in your poker career.
And darn right, it is hard to stick to a rule when your instinct tells you to make an exception this one time. That is why they call it "sweating it out" on your way to the top.
Okay. All is fine. And you have only one question, whuch is really more of an affirmation. You want my definition of a ring table or ring game (same thing). Here it is:
A ring game is confined to a single table. Any player can sit down at any time, buy chips, play poker, and cash out at any time. Any player may also sit out for a reasonable amount of time, their chair automatically saved for them. A player neither gains nor loses any chips while sitting out. Any player has an invitation to sit down at any ring table and an invitation to leave, even if taking most of their money. And neither invitation is usually expressed; just taken for granted.
Keep doin'it and doin'it the way you are doin'it.
I posted everybody's next lesson yesterday in my feature article.
Your lovin'it PokerGuru |

OMIGOSH... i'm so honored!!! a cheer for ME!!! You are 2 sweet, and....... 2 kewl!!! , I'ma crush-em alright..... with your know-how!!!
yep, ok, well, let's say, those are the points that I"m TRYING... lol, really hard to stick to that I think are helping me to keep progressing... and I actually listen to what people tell me, especially, if I don't particularly WANT to agree with it, those are the ones I really ponder, because of past lessons and those are the ones I know I must pay attention to. I can't claim I am able to keep at my learning and lessons 100%, but I try, i really really try, lol.
ok great, ty for defining "ring table or game" for me. That's what I thought, but I wanted to be sure. And I love these full detailed explanations or definitions that you give!!!!
ok, now for anyone, especially my dear Guru-ness, who has not read my post in banter n bitchin... "I got one and the world is a lovely place..." PLEASE READ IT... you will never believe what happened, LOL! |
