These pics were previously attached to another thread but what a perfect example/display of luck as in both hands I was surely a goner....but my good friend luck came and defies all odds to save me...and as rare that it may be to get one straight flush and to have it on the board and then to get it another one also on the board...but how about both on the same day

I do believe it is good to play the game with "good thinking" and to take the time to learn and gain the knowledge and strategies of poker. I believe in always thriving to become a better player. However, as part of the knowledge, strategy and theory of poker - I also believe a player should know that no matter who good you play, no matter how well thought out you have strategized and no matter how great or smart you are as a player - you will never beat luck.
if someone were to ask me to choose to between being a good player or a lucky player - although I would want to be seen and known as a good player -I choose first to be a lucky player. And since it's possible to be both - wow...imagine what a threat that would be. |

Well, as it has always been said, that in the long run, the odds of winning hands will far out weigh the bad beats to the "lucky" players, but when playing online, i find this to be slightly less true alot of the times.
In live poker, you can pretty much count on AA being a winner at least 80% of the time, as online, i would say you are lucky to win 50% of the time.(note not complete accurate statistics, just an example)
But the majority of the time, in live poker the best hand holds up far more than it does online, and there could be many reasons why this is, not going to get into all of that, but to be a great online poker playr, i think one definitely needs a great amount of knowledge of the game, plus quite a bit of luck along the way as well.
As i posted in a previous thread of winning the Carbon $2,000 freeroll, i played the best poker i could play until down to about the last 65 players, and was just hoping at that point to just make the money, thats how unlikely i was to even make the money much less win, but blinded allin, i doubled, then tripled the very next hand, giving me a shot to get a little further and making the money, and as the hands went on, i had the better hands hold up, and some i was behind on pull through getting me tot he final table, where i played it as i just sit down, played smart, and waited for the smaller stacks to exiti, then opened my game up to get Heads Up and even got lucky hitting an open ended straight on a bluff to win the hand i was allin on, and eventually moving on to win the tournament.
So, to win huge online poker tournaments, you definitely gotta have some luck on your side to win it all. You shouldn't be playing to get lucky, but you need the luck that just happens.
This means you play smart and knowledgable poker all the way, and the times you may be wrong on a call of bluff, you better hope for the luck that just happens. |

Aww how sweet, its always great when you find "The One" and it usually happens by accident, when you least expect it, or by "Luck" even. We all end up lucky one way or another whether it be in life or on the poker table. |
