I DO RECOMMEND Carbon Poker. I love the outstanding game variety offered. You can play real tables with as little as 50c bankroll and sit n go tourneys for even less!
FUN FACT: Unique to online poker are the Poker Smilies/Emoticons function found exclusively on Carbon,as well as the other Merge Poker "skins." As you type in chat, your words are magically transformed to animated smilies. I have alot of fun with this feature.
SOFTWARE
Carbon Poker is a fairly new poker room based on the Merge Gaming network, which evolved from the former site of POKER.com. It opened in 2006. It most definitely beginner friendly. It is only available by download. Good graphics, fast and reliable software. The ability to change the several of the graphics and get a custom feel at your table is now available. Highlighting of the player whose turn it is,as well as text underneath name,make this easy to identify at a glance.
In the first couple of years, Carbon did have sporadic freezing and lagging issues.In 2009 they launched a new version of their software and those problems virtually disappeared.
GAMES
Games offered are Texas Hold'em, Seven-Card Stud Hi and Hi-Lo, Omaha Hi and Hi-Lo, H.O.R.S.E., Razz, Five-Card Stud, Five-Card Draw, A-5 Lowball, 2-7 Lowball and Badugi.
MONEY
There are still some parts of the world where new registrations are not allowed: Australia, France, the District of Columbia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Maryland, New York and Washington. If you live in one of these areas, you won’t be able to open a new real-money poker account. The reasons vary as to why citizens of those areas can’t register. Generally it’s because there is some local or national law that takes precedent.
